The Washington Post reports:
Anthony G. Brown (D), a three-term congressman and two-term lieutenant governor under Martin O’Malley, defeated former judge Katy Curran O’Malley in Maryland’s Democratic primary election for attorney general. Brown will take on Michael Peroutka who defeated Jim Shalleck in the Republican primary.
Peroutka ran on a conservative platform that highlighted five key issues including opposing abortion rights, protecting gun rights and prosecuting “public officials who have exceeded their lawful authority and have violated the God-given, constitutionally protected, liberties of Marylanders.” In 2004, Peroutka ran for president under the Constitution Party, which promotes conservative religious views.

Peroutka, a former board member of the neo-Confederate League of the South, has appeared a JMG over a dozen times in the last decade for anti-gay and racist stunts, most recently when he headlined a rally for anti-gay Kentucky clerk Kim Davis.
The League of the South is best known for burning the Israeli flag, making Hitler salutes, and calling the Holocaust the “Holohoax.”
You may also recall that the League Of The South recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of the assassination of “tyrant” Abraham Lincoln and provided the signage for anti-gay rallies in Alabama.
Peroutka was the largest financial backer of now-former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore’s successful campaign to be returned to the bench.
Peroutka, a former board member of the Confederate League of the South, gave a speech to the League during his 2004 presidential bid, where he said he was “still angry” that Maryland was blocked from seceding from the union at the start of the Civil War.https://t.co/2eiABBR59X

Maryland Republicans have nominated their most extreme ticket ever. For Governor, they chose Dan Cox, who bussed people to Jan. 6th. For AG, they picked Michael Peroutka, a member of a neo-confederate group.
This extreme ticket is wrong for Maryland. Voters should reject it.
