MI Gov Candidate Loses Fraud Appeal To Get On Ballot

Perry Johnson’s appeal to get on the governor ballot has been rejected by the Michigan Court of Appeals. Johnson is one of five Republican governor candidates left off the ballot due to not submitting enough valid signatures.

Nearly 7,000 of Johnson’s were tossed due to fraud, leaving him with 13,800 – short of the 15,000 requirement. The state found 36 petition circulators forged an estimated 68,000 signatures across petitions for 10 different candidates running for various positions in Michigan this year.

Johnson is a self-proclaimed “quality guru.” He made a splash in the governor’s race, launching his candidacy with a Super Bowl commercial and committing $2.5 million of his own money to his campaign.
