Katie Britt Drubs “MAGA Mo” Brooks In Senate Primary Runoff, Vows To “Fight For Christian Values” [VIDEO]

The Birmingham News reports:

Katie Britt handily won Alabama’s Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, defeating opponent U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, who held and then lost the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

“Alabama has spoken. We want new blood. We want fresh blood. We want someone who will fight for Christian, conservative values,” Britt said to cheers from the crowd in Montgomery.

Britt said she wants to send a message to Joe Biden in November that Republicans plan to retake the House and Senate to put American first again.

The New York Times reports:

At a gathering of Alabama Republicans last year, Katie Britt and her husband strategically positioned themselves at the end of a receiving line to shake hands with former President Donald J. Trump.

As the couple greeted Mr. Trump, Ms. Britt’s husband, Wesley Britt — a burly retired N.F.L. lineman — mentioned to the former president that he had once played for the New England Patriots.

“The only time you’ve met me, I think I was wrapped in a towel in the Patriots locker room,” Mr. Britt was said to have told Mr. Trump, who found it hilarious and replied that Robert K. Kraft, the team’s billionaire owner, “likes me very much.”

The Associated Press reports:

The loss ends a turbulent campaign that pit Brooks, a conservative firebrand who has spent more than a decade in Congress, against someone who has never held elected office. Brooks ran under the banner “MAGA Mo” and fully embraced Trump’s election lies.

Brooks voted against certifying Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential election victory and delivered a fiery speech at the “Stop the Steal” rally that proceeded the U.S. Capitol insurrection, telling the crowd, “Today is the day that American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass.”
