Raleigh’s NBC News affiliate reports:
Christians are “called to be led by men,” North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson told a Charlotte area church congregation last month. The comments were part of an extended critique of the social justice movement, with Robinson urging men to “put on the whole armor of God” and “take the head of your enemy in God’s name.”
“We are called to be led by men,” he said, which brought applause and some shouts of agreement. “God sent women out … when they had to do their thing, but when it was time to face down Goliath, [He] sent David. Not Davita, David.”
Robinson, a Republican expected to run in 2024 for governor, is well known for controversial comments, and he’s made misogynist comments in the past. But the May 23 remark seems to be a newer talking point for the lieutenant governor.

The piece goes on to note that Robinson’s new talking point is likely to turn off many female voters.
Robinson went on to say that God knew what he was doing when he made men “big, ugly, and hairy” because that’s what it takes to scare away predators. For real.
Robinson recently confessed to having paid for his then-girlfriend to have an abortion, but says that Jesus has since forgiven him.
Within the space of a few minutes the Lt. Governor:
– mocked a famous civil rights hymn
– said God calls men, not women, to lead
– compared teachers to sexual predators#ncga #ncpol https://t.co/DH0xtZnese— Travis Fain (@TravisFain) June 6, 2022

We cannot overstate the fanatical Christian nationalism preached by North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who told a crowd today that “the Christian patriots of this nation will own this nation and rule this nation.” https://t.co/XedNV0LHyS pic.twitter.com/2EkibTlro4
