The Houston Chronicle reports:
The National Rifle Association will host its annual meeting as planned this weekend in downtown Houston, organizers and city officials said Tuesday following the deadly school shooting in Uvalde that killed 19 children.
The meeting is set to take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center, with various events Thursday through Sunday. It is expected to draw 55,000 people, according to Houston First, the government corporation that oversees the convention center.
Former President Donald Trump will be part of a slate of speakers Friday. Gov. Greg Abbott, State Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw are also scheduled to speak to the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Leadership Forum.
