Riot Panel May Seek Contempt Charge For Giuliani

The Jan. 6 committee cracked open the door to contempt proceedings against former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, after he indicated he intends to bail on a scheduled Friday interview with the panel.

“Mr. Giuliani is an important witness to the conspiracy to overthrow the government and he remains under subpoena,” committee spokesperson Tim Mulvey said in a statement. “If he refuses to comply the committee will consider all enforcement options.”

Giuliani had originally agreed to take part in a transcribed interview Friday, but told investigators Thursday he would not take part unless he was able to videotape the interview. Giuliani’s attorney Robert Costello confirmed they had canceled the interview over Giuliani’s demand to record it.
