Harrisburg’s ABC News affiliate reports:
Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz in the hotly-contested race to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate.
In his endorsement on Saturday Trump called the former television personality “brilliant and well-known” and that Oz has his “complete and total endorsement.”
“I believe that Mehmet Oz will be the one most able to win the General Election against a Radical Left Democrat,” said Trump.
CNN reports:
The endorsement came after months of behind-the-scenes jockeying by Oz and another leading candidate in Pennsylvania, Dave McCormick, a hedge fund executive. Both Oz and McCormick entered the primary after Trump’s first choice for the nomination, Sean Parnell, dropped out of the race late last year.
Trump touted Oz’s education and his medical career in the endorsement. He also said of Oz, “He even said that I was in extraordinary health, which made me like him even more (although he also said I should lose a couple of pounds!).” Trump met with McCormick earlier this week at Mar-a-Lago.
As you can see below, cultists are furious.
Several former Trump hands work for McCormick, who went to see Trump a few days ago. Hannity and others have pushed Oz. Ultimately it’s not at all surprising Trump backed the celebrity in the race.

I have enormous respect for President Trump. I was honored to have his endorsement in PA.
Twice
But I’m disappointed by this. Oz is the antithesis of everything that made Trump the best president of my lifetime—he’s the farthest thing from America First & he’d be very bad for PA https://t.co/kuTo4pp53U— Sean Parnell (@SeanParnellUSA) April 9, 2022
All that self-humiliation for nothing. An old and familiar tale. https://t.co/sr43ALvzVT

Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Oz is inexcusable.
He just put his political capital behind an anti-gun pro-abortion open borders Hollywood liberal.
Oz will be another Mitt Romney in the Senate.

I am honored to receive President Trump’s full support and endorsement, and I thank him for that. President Trump knows how critical it is to change the kinds of people we send to Washington. I’m ready to bring an America First agenda to the Senate for Pennsylvania. pic.twitter.com/7gmhZupinr

This endorsement could divide MAGA in the only way that matters: he could lose America First conservatives over it https://t.co/UC22IlLdFy

It’s like Donald Trump’s staff is sabotaging Trump by convincing him to make the worst possible endorsements.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) April 10, 2022
This is happening because Trump’s surrounded himself by staff who are on McConnell’s payroll & hostile to the MAGA agenda. Everybody telling Trump who to endorse in primaries works for The Swamp.
They played him. Again. https://t.co/SoD656HT0V

The ongoing need to blame everyone but Trump for Trump’s own choices is striking given that Brooks, who Trump dumped, is one of those doing it. https://t.co/SmhfnHEHvA
