Denver’s NBC News affiliate reports:
MyPillow CEO and vocal election conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell came to the steps of the Colorado Capitol on Tuesday to headline a rally claiming to promote “election truth.” Also present was secretary of state candidate and embattled Republican Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, who faces felony and misdemeanor charges related to a security breach in the Mesa County elections office.
Colorado’s Independent Ethics Commission is investigating Peters, as well, for allegations she accepted gifts for her legal defense that exceed the limit allowed by state law. Speaking to reporters before his address, Lindell revealed that he gave as much as $800,000 to a legal defense fund for Peters. “If you are not a close friend or family member of a elected official or a public employee in Colorado, you can only give someone a gift of $65 per calendar year,” Jane Feldman, former executive director of the commission, told 9NEWS.

It appears Lindell’s mouth has created more legal difficulties. At his rally on the steps of the CO Capitol this week, he said he contributed $800K to Mesa Clerk Tina Peters’ legal defense. Accepting gifts over $65 is illegal for CO elected officials. https://t.co/WzEVM7eI7t
