The land of the lost? 101 police officers have been shot in the line of duty already this year—that’s a 43% increase over last year. Chicago alderman Anthony Napolitano, who is also a former police officer, said crime has taken over their city and “we’re the land of the lost.”
There’s no question, Chicago is the land of the lost, but they are not alone—it is many cities across our country. Last weekend we had blood spilt from Chicago to Arkansas to Sacramento and beyond.
President Biden says it’s guns; but it’s not the guns—it’s the people behind the guns. There’s only one answer for the lost, and that’s Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).
As followers of Christ, we must faithfully share the truth about the cost of sin, as well as the Good News of God’s love and forgiveness available through repentance and faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. He can bring healing to broken hearts, lives, and even cities.
