The Associated Press reports:
An elected official from New Mexico heads to trial Monday with a judge — not a jury — set to decide if he is guilty of charges that he illegally entered the U.S. Capitol grounds on the day a pro-Trump mob disrupted the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential election victory.
Griffin, a former rodeo rider and former pastor, helped found a political committee called Cowboys for Trump. He had vowed to arrive at the courthouse on horseback. Instead, he showed up on Monday as a passenger in a pickup truck that had a horse trailer on the back.
In a court filing, prosecutors called him “an inflammatory provocateur and fabulist who engages in racist invective and propounds baseless conspiracy theories, including that Communist China stole the 2020 Presidential Election.”

In May 2020, Trump retweeted a video of New Mexico politician Cuoy Griffin saying “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.” Griffin is one of the terrorists who attacked the Capitol. This is damning evidence of insurrection and it should come up during Trump’s trial. pic.twitter.com/K1nmT2tLcj

Couy Griffin did not ride a horse in, because he said he wanted to respect the court and not create a “spectacle.”
But he told me he may ride it out, depending on how the case turns out.

Couy Griffin is wearing a Cowboy hat and a stylized suit, along with a mask below his nose. He’s currently upset that jurors get to jump the security line.
“What’s more important, a juror or a defendant?”
Hearing starts in 20.

Couy Griffin tells the judge he did some college.
Says he hadn’t consumed alcohol in the past 24 hours.
Then goes back to correct the record.
“I had a couple of beers last night,” Griffin said. But said he’s clear headed now.
