Armed Intruder Spurs Lockdown At Joint Base Andrews

The New York Times reports:

The military base in Maryland that the president and the vice president use to travel to and from Washington was put on lockdown on Sunday night when two people, at least one of whom was armed, bypassed a security checkpoint at about the time that Vice President Kamala Harris and four Cabinet members landed there.

The two people drove through the checkpoint at the main gate and “failed to adhere to commands of security personnel,” Joint Base Andrews said in a statement on Sunday night. One of them was apprehended, and hours later, after a full sweep of the base, officials said they had found evidence the second intruder had “departed the installation.”
