Psaki Laughs Off Cruz’s “Peppermint Patty” Dig [VIDEO]

The Daily Mail reports:

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz called White House press secretary Jen Psaki “Peppermint Patty,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rides a “broom” and got the Conservative Political Action Conference crowd to boo Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and chant ‘Let’s Go Brandon.’

“Justin Trudeau,” he said, as the crowd chimed in with loud boos. “Let’s pause for a second and observe that is the first time in recorded history that any Canadian has illicited that much of a response from any crowd on planet earth,” said Cruz, who was born in Canada to an American mother.

The New York Daily News reports:

She’s not red with rage. White House press secretary Jen Psaki laughed off Ted Cruz’s attempt at a “Peppermint Patty” joke Thursday with the experience of someone who’s heard that one before. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Fla., Cruz was looking for jeers when he mentioned Psaki, but got no response from the audience.

At the time, Psaki was giving a press briefing at the White House, and a reporter asked her about the dig. “Don’t tell him I like Peppermint Patty. So I’m not gonna take it too offensively,” she said, then turned directly to the cameras. “Senator Cruz, I like Peppermint Patty. I’m a little tougher than that. But there you go.”
