JMG News: So I’ve Got Jury Duty Starting Tomorrow

As I’ve mentioned in the JMG comments a few times in recent weeks, I’ve been summoned as a “standby petit juror” starting tomorrow here in Manhattan.

Those summoned are told to check the New York County Courts website every day after 5PM to see if their number has been called and my number is on tomorrow’s list.

That doesn’t mean I’m definitely on a jury, of course, but it does mean that our usual JMG routine will be disrupted, at least for tomorrow and possibly for days (or weeks) afterwards.

I’ll be able post a few items in the morning before I head downtown and I’m allowed to bring a laptop for during downtimes and lunch, so I’ll likely be able to update the site intermittently.

Presuming that things end late in the afternoon, I’ll also try to catch up on any of the major items I’ve missed when we’re through.

This is only the second time I’ve been called and the first time was for a grand jury, which can go on for months. Somehow I was among the ten out of over 100 whose names was not pulled out the drum.

Anyway, it is what it is.
