Graham Rages That Proposed UK Ban On Ex-Gay Torture Will Turn Pastors Into “Criminals For Jesus”

Criminals for Jesus? Recently, 2,500+ ministers and pastoral workers in the UK presented a letter to the government stating that they were willing to be “criminalized” if a ban on so-called gay and transgender “conversion therapy” was passed into law.

These pastors want to share the truth of God’s love and power, and aren’t afraid to stand with the Word of God—even if it means being declared a “criminal” and going to prison.

Activists have been pushing bans on “conversion therapy” all around the world, including in the U.S.

With laws like this, the label “conversion therapy” could be broadly applied to any kind of counseling or sharing of Biblical truth that would help guide someone away from a homosexual or transgender lifestyle.

Such bans would prevent Christian pastors, counselors, and even parents from fully ministering to and giving Biblical guidance to those who want to leave homosexuality or are struggling with gender confusion.

These courageous pastors in the UK pushed back against the proposed legislation. One minister said, “We were very clear that if they legislate in such a way as to make us criminals, then we will continue to teach the Christian faith as our duty is to God.”

Thankfully, government officials backed off, at least for now. The government has promised that it won’t interfere with their ministries, and I hope that will be the case. However, activists will likely continue their efforts, not just in the UK but in the U.S. as well.

We need to follow the example of these Christian leaders and boldly stand with the truth of God’s Word—it is the only answer for the hurts and lostness of our world. Take a minute to encourage these pastors in the comments below.
