DC-Bound Truckers To Demand “Justice For Ashli”

Penn Live reports:

On Wednesday, a convoy of an undetermined number of truckers is set to leave Scranton and head for the nation’s capital by way of Harrisburg, where the first of many grievances will be aired. “We are going to let our voices be heard,” said Bob Bolus, a Scranton-area trucking parts and towing service business owner who is an organizer in the truckers convoy movement across the country.

For example, he said, the truckers’ protest will underscore their objection to the fact that Scranton renamed two streets in honor of its most famous native son, President Joe Biden. Bolus said truckers are also calling for legal recourse for the death of Ashli Babitt, a Jan. 6 insurrectionist who was shot dead by a Capitol police officer as she tried to breach the Capitol. “We want justice for Ashli,” Bolus said.

Earlier this week Bolus laid out the plan for truckers to “choke” the Washington DC beltway.

In 2019, Bolus was barred from running for mayor of Scranton due to his prior felony convictions for receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence.

Bolus appealed that ruling, claiming that even if he couldn’t hold the office of mayor, he should still be allowed to be listed on the ballot.
