The Houston Chronicle reports:
Gov. Greg Abbott has announced plans to amend the Texas Constitution with a Parent Bill of Rights if he is re-elected. The proposal follows Abbott’s introduction of a Taxpayer Bill of Rights this week.
Abbott, who is running for reelection, has made it a point to target inappropriate content in schools. In November, he directed the Texas Education Agency to develop statewide standards preventing “obscene content in Texas public schools.”
Under the Parent Bill of Rights, Abbott said any educator convicted of providing minors with “obscene” content will lose their educational credentials and state licensing, forfeit their retirement benefits and will be placed on a “do not hire” list.

Obviously, this is mostly about LGBTQ issues.
We expect to see a “parent’s bill of rights” released in Texas today. If it’s anything like similar proposals, it will be nothing more than a coordinated attack on the rights of students, parents, and teachers in public schools. #TeachtheTruth

GOP Governor Greg Abbott wants to put teachers who say stuff he doesn’t like on a ‘do not hire’ list.
Is this… cancel culture? ? https://t.co/PhwF0ssIxa

Greg Abbott has turned public education into a culture war debate.
If we want world class schools in Texas, we’ve got to be bigger than that.
We should be focused on fully funding public schools and fully supporting teachers and students. pic.twitter.com/c5JfaEzrPC
