The Washington Post reports:
The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection requested Wednesday that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) voluntarily provide information about his communications with President Donald Trump and other top officials in the lead-up to the insurrection and during the attack.
In a letter to McCarthy, the committee’s chairman, Rep Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), cites the panel’s interest in his correspondence with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows ahead of Jan. 6, along with McCarthy’s communications with Trump during and after the attack.
Details of those conversations could provide the committee with further insight into Trump’s state of mind at the time, Thompson wrote.
