Gaetz Crony Flips In Guilty Plea, Cooperates With Feds

The Orlando Sentinel reports:

Joe Ellicott — a close friend of disgraced Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg and a former radio talk show host — agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and distribution of a controlled substance, according to court documents filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Each charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and fines totaling more than $5.2 million. Shortly after Greenberg took office in January 2017, he hired Ellicott to serve as the office’s “supervisor of facilities.”

According to court documents, Ellicott admitted to agreeing to pay bribes to a public official. He also pled guilty to illegally selling Adderall, an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder prescription drug.

The Daily Beast reports:

Ellicott is the long-time best friend of corrupt Florida tax official Joel Greenberg, who was Gaetz’s wingman in the underage sex operation, according to several sources with direct knowledge of their relationship.

Last year, The Daily Beast revealed that Ellicott knew intimate details about the teenage girl who was paid for sex by the group—and actually texted what essentially amounted to a confession that they were scrambling to try and coverup details about their sex with a 17-year-old from the feds.

Joe Zwick, an attorney for Ellicott, told The Daily Beast that his client has been cooperating in the sex trafficking case against Gaetz. That case is being handled by Justice Department prosecutors in Washington, D.C., and is separate from the local ongoing investigation into Greenberg.
