The Washington Post reports:
Democratic state legislators in New York released a congressional redistricting map Sunday that redrew House lines to give Democrats as many as three more seats at a time when the party’s majority is in jeopardy.
The New York map is the latest redistricting win for Democrats who had been expected to suffer at the hands of Republican state legislatures that control map-drawing in many more states.
But maps in two of those states, Ohio and Alabama, have already been struck down by the courts. In a third Republican state, Texas, the Justice Department has sued over lines it said discriminated against Latinos.
Politico reports:
New York’s 27-member congressional delegation has 19 Democrats and eight Republicans. That delegation is due to decrease to 26 members after the state’s population grew less rapidly than other states’.
The Democratic plan would effectively account for that loss by eliminating the seat currently held by Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney [photo], who lives in the Utica area.
The new maps would also take districts in Syracuse, Staten Island and Long Island that have been competitive over the past decade but elected Republicans in 2020 and make them more favorable to Democrats.
Tenney is best known here on JMG for literally running from the press and shouting “fake news!” after claiming that “most mass shooters turn out to be Democrats.” Her claim came days after the Parkland massacre. In 2018, she was endorsed by the Log Cabin Republicans.
In another boost to Democrats, New York legislators draw a congressional redistricting map that gives their party another three House seats, at a time when the Democratic majority is in jeopardy. @colbyitkowitz and @AdrianBlancoR

Breaking: this NY Dem map effectively sacks #NY22 Rep. Claudia Tenney (R), while preserving a safe red Southern Tier #NY23 open seat for a GOP successor to retiring Rep. Tom Reed (R).
