Woman Isolates In Plane Bathroom After Mid-Flight Test

Grand Rapids’ ABC News affiliate reports:

A woman who grew up in West Michigan is now going viral for a video showing herself isolated in an airplane bathroom after she tested positive for COVID-19 in the middle of a flight.

About an hour into the five-hour Icelandic Air flight to Reykjavik, Marisa Fotieo said her throat started to hurt. She had brought along several COVID-19 rapid test kits, and went to the bathroom to take one.

“And within about two seconds, the test came back positive,” Fotieo said. “I freaked out and ran out of the bathroom and found the first person I could see. Luckily it was this amazing flight attendant named Rocky.”

Fotieo says Rocky advised that the flight was too full to isolate her in the cabin so she volunteered to remain in the bathroom.

Rocky brought her snacks and water over the next four hours. Passengers were alerted to the situation and were told to keep their masks tightly on.

As you’ll see in the clip, Rocky delivered a bag of gifts to her hotel room to soothe her Reykjavik quarantine over the holidays.
