Furor Over RNC’s New Quisling Coalition Continues

The Washington Post reports:

The Republican National Committee is pushing back against a state party leader’s call for Ronna McDaniel to resign as RNC chairwoman over her outreach to the LGBTQ community.

In a statement to The Washington Post, RNC spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman John Bennett is “lying” about the steps the national party plans to take as part of McDaniel’s recent move to form the first-ever “RNC Pride Coalition.”

“Chairman McDaniel has made it abundantly clear that this does not mean we are advocating for any policy or RNC platform change — Chairman Bennett is lying and it is disgusting that he’d attempt to raise money off these falsehoods,” Alvarez said.

If you’re new to this story thread, three weeks ago McDaniel announced a “Pride Coalition” with the Log Cabin Republicans at their black tie gala at Mar-A-Lago, which was attended by Trump and Melania.

Within days, Tony Perkins, Todd Starnes, and other haters demanded McDaniel’s resignation, but made no mention of Trump’s appearance in support of the Quislings.

McDaniel reacted with a reassuring email that the GOP still opposes virtually all LGBT rights.

Oklahoma GOP chairman John Bennett, previously known here for supporting anti-vaxxers who wear the Star of David, is leading a new push to have McDaniel axed.
