Anti-Vax Soap Opera Star Axed After Defying Mandate

Variety reports:

Longtime “General Hospital” star Ingo Rademacher is out at the long-running ABC soap opera because he declined to comply with the production’s vaccine mandate. His last episode is scheduled to air on Nov. 22, Variety confirmed.

News of his departure comes amid backlash to a transphobic meme and anti-vax sentiment he posted on social media Sunday. Rademacher has played the character Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the daytime medical drama since 1996 and has been a regular on the show for 25 of its 59 seasons.

Rademacher also shared an anti-vaxxer message on Instagram on Sunday. It stated that he would “stand with you to fight for medical freedom.”

The New York Daily News reports:

When a group of “General Hospital” fans called for this termination after he spoke about his anti-vax stance in August, he called them “morons, dictators and horrible, horrible” people.

Rademacher also recently came under fire after he shared a meme with a picture of U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, who is transgender, and referred to the picture as “that dude on the left.”  His “General Hospital” co-star Cassandra James, a trans woman, lambasted him on Twitter.

Originally posted by a conservative commentator, Rademacher apologized in an Instagram video for the misgendering, saying he should have crossed out the word “dude” and noted that those were the author’s words, not his.
