Hundreds Of Rhode Island University Students Granted Vaccine Exemptions Based On Their Religious Objections

The Providence Journal reports:

While Rhode Island’s colleges tout high vaccination rates against COVID-19, religious exemptions are not always difficult to obtain. At the University of Rhode Island, requesting one is as simple as checking a box.

A copy of the one-page form, which the school sent to The Providence Journal, asks students seeking exemptions to provide personal information including their name, address and health-care provider in the first section.

The second section then asks the student to check off which vaccine they do not wish to take, the COVID-19 immunization being the sole option. So far, the university has totaled about 1,080 exemptions, most of them on religious grounds.
