The Orlando Sentinel reports:
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, who in July mandated county employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19 by Sept. 30, now expects a court fight with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration over the order. At a press briefing, Demings said he received a letter Friday from the state Department of Health, threatening the county with hefty fines for mandating vaccinations of its employees.
The letter, from Doug Woodlief, a division manager at the state agency, said a law signed in May by the governor allows the Department of Health to “impose a fine of $5,000 per individual violation.” “This discriminatory policy infringes upon the fundamental rights and privacies of Floridians and is a direct violation of Section 381.0031, Florida Statutes,” Woodlief wrote.
