Hundreds of Genesee County residents lined Saginaw Street in downtown Flint Wednesday afternoon to protest a mandatory mask mandate that the county health department instituted last week for students in K-6. The peaceful protest was organized by the Genesee County Republican Party.
Clio resident Gavin Monk said his grandchildren may also be taken out of school because the district is planning to follow the mandate instituted by the county.
He waved a large American flag as he listened to speakers during the protest. “I do not care if the pandemic is killing millions,” Monk said. “They do not have the right to take my rights away. Once you give up your liberty, you never get it back.”
