Former President Donald Trump on Thursday joined a chorus of right-wing voices calling for the identity of the law enforcement officer who shot and killed Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt as she attempted to breach the House chamber on January 6, which the Justice Department determined was an act of “self-defense.”

Trump joins several right-wing House Republicans, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who have called for the identity of the shooter. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) has gone so far as to suggest Ashli Babbitt was “executed” by an officer “lying in wait,” describing her as a “veteran” who was “wrapped in a U.S. flag.”
