Gettr Already Flooded With Porn, Slurs, Hitler, Trolling

Mother Jones reports:

“Welcome to GETTR and start a new journey!” So reads an introductory message on the home page of Gettr, a right-wing social media app recently launched by a team led by Jason Miller, an ex-spokesperson of former president Donald Trump.

That “new journey,” thanks to spam comments left en masse below the message, involves encountering things like anime porn and repeated copies of an image depicting Hillary Clinton’s head photoshopped onto another woman’s nude body.

Major social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and its image-sharing subsidiary platform Instagram, have automated filters that root out and remove or censor nude images. At the moment, the Trump-linked social media app apparently has nothing of the kind.

Slate reports

Associates of Donald Trump launched an alternative social-media site called GETTR on Thursday that was almost immediately overrun by porn and white supremacists. GETTR is a lot like Twitter, except with worse functionality and more racism. The main interface is a feed of posts from accounts you follow.

Users are also apparently trying to hijack the #QAnon hashtag with outré porn and a picture of a pig with extremely large balls. Yet it’s still easy to find 4chan-level racist shit-posting, with users spamming feeds with racial epithets and endorsements of Hitler. Hashtags with slurs are also gaining a lot of traction on the platform.

Vice News reports:

QAnon followers are angry that Team Trump’s new social media platform is allowing users to mock them and post porn “and bad words and stuff.”

A search for the QAnon hashtag on GETTR on Friday morning found the topic flooded with a mixture of anime porn, posts mocking the people who believe in QAnon conspiracy theories, and a flood of pictures of topless old men wearing nothing but underpants.

So for now, QAnon followers are likely to stick to Telegram, where they can continue to spread conspiracies about GETTR, such as this from a user called Maria: “I think this is another creation by the CIA.”
