The Hill reports:
After Texas Democrats flew to D.C. Monday to deny GOP the quorum they need to vote in a special legislative session, Cruz was said the “political stunt” was “ironic” given Democratic opposition to voter ID measures.
“As they were getting on their private jet to fly to Washington D.C., they almost surely had to show identification to get on that jet,” Cruz said in a Fox News interview. “This is at the end of the day, politics. And they need to get back to doing their jobs. And one way or the other, they will,” he added.
Cruz uploaded the interview onto his Twitter account, where he was bombarded with criticism from fellow politicians and other Twitter users reminding him of his much-criticized trip to Mexico in February.

If it’s one thing @tedcruz knows about, it’s jet setting. Reminds you of when he abandoned his duty to the people of Texas when he left in the middle of a winter storm to go to Cancun. https://t.co/PVzCGaIMI6

Ted Cruz on Texas Democrats: “It’s ironic. As they were getting on their private jet to fly to Washington DC, they almost surely had to show identification to get on that jet.” (This is a false equivalency — people have a right to vote but not a right to board jets.) pic.twitter.com/VXxZ6jMBiE

For the life of me, I just can’t seem to remember Texas Governor Abbott calling for Ted Cruz to be arrested when he fled the state. Just saying.

You know what’s ‘ironic’? Ted Cruz lecturing anyone else on leaving Texas in the middle of a crisis. Now *that’s* ironic. https://t.co/oj7rLBAPUL
