Graham: We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need Jesus

Posted today to Franklin Graham’s Facebook page:

Four people were killed this morning in Chicago’s second mass shooting in four days. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is quoted in the news as saying, “We need help…” She means help from the federal government, but the bigger truth is—we need help from God.

Gun control isn’t the answer—heart control is. It’s a matter of who is controlling the human heart. People need a heart change, and the only One who can transform the human heart is the Lord Jesus Christ when we surrender to Him in repentance and faith.

The Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Cor. 5:17).

That’s the kind of help our cities and our neighborhoods really need—help that comes from turning to God. As churches and Christians, we have the responsibility of sharing the hope that comes through Jesus Christ, and we need to be sharing it with urgency because time is running out. We are to be the light that shines in the darkness of the world around us.
