Yesterday this guy complained that Stefanik isn’t conservative enough to replace Cheney. You knew there would be an ulterior motive:
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) on Wednesday afternoon did not rule out running for the GOP leadership position left vacant by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).
“We’re here to talk about other topics but I will say this, [Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.)] should have an opponent,” Roy answered at a press conference where legislation opposing critical race theory was introduced.
Multiple reports surfaced Wednesday that the Texas lawmaker has his sights on challenging Stefanik for the role.

From a spokesman: “While not ruling anything out, Congressman Roy has never sought a position in conference leadership. His focus is on serving Texas’ 21st Congressional district, the American people, and the Constitution.”

But if the position must be filled, then this must be a contested race — not a coronation.”
