The Hill reports:
A Minnesota man was arrested Wednesday for assault after he allegedly drove away while a police officer’s arm was trapped in his truck window.
Luke Alvin Oeltjenbruns was stopped by law enforcement in Hutchinson, Minn., after they received reports that he had been involved in an altercation over a mask. During the incident, Oeltjenbruns allegedly hit a hardware store employee with lumber.
During the police encounter, an officer was standing on the truck’s running board when Oeltjenbruns is accused of rolling up the window on his arm. The suspect then allegedly drove away at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, leaving the officer hanging off the vehicle.
The Crow River News reports:
Officer Steven Sickmann, a 31-year veteran of the Hutchinson Police Department, engaged the suspect through the driver’s window, but Sickmann became trapped in the window.
According to the press release, the Sickmann was struck in the head with a hammer during the struggle. He was taken to Hutchinson Health and has since been released and is recovering at home.
