Axios reports:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned on the Senate floor Tuesday that if Democrats eliminate the filibuster and Republicans take back the majority, “we wouldn’t just erase every liberal change that hurt the country — we’d strengthen America with all kinds of conservative policies with zero, zero input from the other side.”
He promised that a Republican majority would immediately defund Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities, push abortion restrictions, ramp up security on the southern border and more. “Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin, can even begin to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like,” the Republican leader warned.

Mitch McConnell eliminated filibuster to steal 2 Supreme Court seats for Trump but wants to keep it to block HR1 & John Lewis Voting Rights Act that would expand voting access for tens of millions of Americans

Somehow Congressional Watchers have wiped from their memory the fact that Mitch McConnell’s very first move after Trump won was to eliminate the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees so he could jam through Justice after shrinking the court to 8 seats for nearly a year.

As Senate majority leader you bragged about being the grim reaper for 500 House passed bills & denied them a vote—making the Senate function like a hundred-car-pile-up. If abolishing the filibuster upsets you, too bad.

Breaking Senate rules to kill the filibuster would not open up an express lane to liberal change. It would not open up an express lane for the Biden presidency to speed into the history books. The Senate would function more like a hundred-car pile-up. Nothing moving.
