The Houston Chronicle reports:
Asked on a podcast this week whether his interest in running for governor of Texas was sincere, Matthew McConaughey said, “It’s a true consideration.” The Oscar-winning actor first brought up the idea last year.
This week Channel 13 reported that he appeared on The Balanced Voice, a Crime Stoppers of Houston podcast and discussed the possibility of entering politics. Host Rania Mankarious asked McConaughey about running for the top statewide office, and the actor still seems intrigued by the idea.
He’d previously referred to politics as “a broken business.” The election will take place Nov. 8, 2022. Texas has no gubernatorial term limits. Governor Greg Abbott will be running for a third term.
