The Independent reports:
Senator Bill Cassidy has said he does not think Donald Trump will be the Republican Party’s candidate for the 2024 election.
It comes amid speculation that Mr Trump may announce he will run for president once again during his speech at CPAC. Asked if Mr Trump was fit to be president again, Mr Cassidy said: “Well, he’ll be 78 years old. But I don’t think he’ll be our nominee.”
“Over the last four years, we’ve lost the House, the Senate and the presidency. That has not happened in a single four years under a president since Herbert Hoover. Political campaigns are about winning, our agenda does not move forward unless we win.”
