GOP Rep May Sue Pelosi To Carry Guns On House Floor, Claims House Reps Used To Break That Rule Routinely

The right wing Washington Free Beacon reports:

Rep. Chip Roy (R., Texas) said he is weighing whether to take legal action against the “unconstitutional” metal detectors and fines instituted by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) to stop members from carrying guns on the House floor. “It’s an outrage. I believe it deprives us of our Second Amendment right to defend ourselves,” Roy said. “On January 6, I was sitting on the floor of the House. The only thing between me and an angry mob was a handful of Capitol Hill police officers.

Roy said members have traditionally been allowed to carry guns on Capitol grounds with the exception of the House floor. But, he said, that restriction was commonly ignored in the past without incident. “The fact of the matter is that, historically speaking, a number of members that carried just kind of didn’t really acknowledge or follow that rule but they didn’t make a show out of it,” Roy said. “No one said anything about it, no one asked.”
