The Family Research Council’s prayer of the day:
Oh God, this new administration promises radical new changes. Be with Tony Perkins, FRC and all those who pray with us and support us. Help us to soldier up, not with carnal armor and weapons, but with spiritual.
The Biden administration and Congress have promised to enact public policies beyond anything we have ever faced as a people before. Their promises shake our sensibilities, challenge our most sacred values, our faith, our consciences, and our Christian and American traditions.
Many believers feel like throwing in the towel and giving up. But such is not an option. We were born to take a righteous stand amid what we are seeing.
We must take hold of You, God, and be prepared and ready to do all You call us to do, and, “after we have done all to stand” (Eph 6) — immovable, unbendable, praying and exercising our faith together, more than ever.
Jesus, you said all things are possible with God (Mt 19:26) and that “with God, nothing shall be is impossible” (Lk 1:37). Help us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of Your might! May we put on the full armor of God — each of us armed with the Word of God to pray for Your plan and purposes in our nation to prevail.
Help to arm us with spiritual (not carnal) weapons. Lord, you know the new administration has declared its intention to undo everything President Trump has accomplished, his protections for life, religious liberty, and the family.
Help us to pray as we ought for the new president as You expressly command (1 Tim 2:1-2) but help us to pray against the many planned initiatives that contradict Your plain word. End the hatred that has characterized the past four years.
Grant us civility and the ability to love as You have commanded us — even those who hate us. Intervene to save our nation, Lord, and to set us on a course You can bless and not curse. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
