The Washington Post reports:
The global police cooperation agency Interpol said Wednesday that the distribution of coronavirus vaccines could be exploited by criminals, with “falsification, theft and illegal advertising of COVID-19 and flu vaccines” posing growing risks.
“As governments are preparing to roll out vaccines, criminal organisations are planning to infiltrate or disrupt supply chains,” said the agency’s secretary general, Juergen Stock, according to the Interpol website.
“Criminal networks will also be targeting unsuspecting members of the public via fake websites and false cures, which could pose a significant risk to their health, even their lives.” Interpol said it has warned all of its 194 member states to prepare for such potential criminal schemes “both physically and online.”
