Florida Becomes Third State To Pass 1M COVID Cases

The New York Daily News reports:

The state of Florida recorded its 1 millionth COVID-19 case on Tuesday, becoming the third U.S. state to reach the ignoble mark since the pandemic began last winter. However, as the state approaches 20,000 coronavirus deaths, Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to refuse a statewide mask order or to close bars and restaurants.

“Yes, we are seeing increases, but other states are seeing even more,” DeSantis said, according to the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper.

Prior to Thanksgiving, DeSantis extended an executive order that prevented localities from collecting fines from people who violated mask mandates and vetoed any local orders that restaurants and bars operate at 50% capacity or below.
