The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:
One of Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler’s campaign staffers was killed Friday in a multi-vehicle crash in South Georgia, forcing her and Gov. Brian Kemp to cancel their plans to join Vice President Mike Pence in Savannah for a rally.
Harrison Deal, a young aide for Loeffler and a former intern for Sen. David Perdue, was also a close family friend of the Kemps. The 20-year-old from Statesboro was remembered by Loeffler as a beloved member of her team.
Deal died in a three-vehicle crash on I-16 East near Pooler Parkway around 10 a.m. Friday, according to Pooler police spokeswoman Lindsey Heintzman. Pooler is about 14 miles west of Savannah.
