NYC Man Charged In Machete Killing Of Grindr Date

The New York Daily News reports:

A Bronx man is accused of hacking to death with a machete a man he met on a dating hook up app — and his roommate walked in on the bloody aftermath, police sources said Monday. Juan Alonso, 50, was charged Monday with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. Cops are still trying to identify his victim.

Alonso’s roommate, who had been away, returned home to the apartment he shares with the suspect on E. 206th St. near Perry Ave. in Norwood about 7:10 p.m Sunday. He found Alonso, machete in hand, standing over the dead victim, sources said.

Cops arrested Alonso at the scene. He met the victim on Grindr, a popular gay dating and hook up app, sources said. It wasn’t clear what prompted the bloodshed.

The roommate says he was placed in the apartment by an agency and doesn’t know Alonso well.
