A California Superior Court judge has ordered President Donald Trump to pay $44,100 to Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, to reimburse her attorneys’ fees in the legal battle surrounding her nondisclosure agreement. The judge’s order was issued Monday but posted online Friday by Clifford’s attorneys.
Clifford, an adult-film actress who says she had an affair with Trump from 2006 to 2007, signed a $130,000 nondisclosure agreement with former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who represented a shell company and a “David Dennison,” which Clifford contends is a pseudonym for Trump. Trump denies the affair occurred.
Clifford sued Trump in 2018, seeking to be released from the NDA. In response, Trump and his legal team agreed outside of court not to sue or otherwise enforce the NDA. The suit was dismissed and Clifford’s claims ruled moot, as the NDA had been rendered unenforceable.
The New York Daily News reports:
Daniels’ claimed after the purported fling that the President was obsessed with and terrified by sharks and that she watched Shark Week programming with him in his hotel room. He reportedly told her in 2006 “I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.”
Trump confirmed at a rally in Pennsylvania Thursday that he was indeed no supporter of the big fish, according to the Washington Post.
“I’m not a big fan of sharks, either,” he joked at a rally in Scranton. “I don’t know, how many votes am I going to lose? I have people calling me up: ‘Sir, we wanted to — we have a fund to save the shark. It’s called save the shark.’ I say ‘No, thank you. I have other things I can contribute to.”
