The BBC reports:
US Vice-President Mike Pence has warned that violence will spread in American cities if Joe Biden wins the White House in November. “The hard truth is you won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America,” said President Donald Trump’s deputy in a keynote speech to the Republican convention.
Mr Pence depicted the vote as a choice between law-and-order and lawlessness. He spoke amid nightly protests over the police shooting of a black man in Wisconsin on Sunday.
He blasted Mr Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, for saying there is an “implicit bias” against minorities and “systemic racism” in the US. Mr Pence said: “Joe Biden would double down on the very policies that are leading to unsafe streets and violence in America’s cities.”
CNN reports:
Pence didn’t note that a 17-year-old suspected of killing two people and injuring a third in Kenosha overnight was a pro-police supporter of the President who posted video on TikTok from a Trump rally in Des Moines in January.
The shootings came a night after the RNC highlighted a St. Louis couple who brandished guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home.
When asked about the link between the suspect and the Trump rally in Des Moines earlier on Wednesday, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said the White House is “not responsible for the private conduct of people who go to rallies.”

“Pence twisted the facts and spun a more pleasing alternative reality: a resurgent economy, a deadly virus defeated and a benevolent President who was a champion of Blacks, empathetic counselor of professional women, guardian of constitutional values” https://t.co/a2Zu50QKXK

On the third night of the GOP convention, Vice President Mike Pence and others twisted facts on the economy, some of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s positions and more. https://t.co/NwSHazsuAJ

Fact-check: Vice President Pence falsely claimed Joe Biden supports defunding the police.
That’s not true — Biden has instead proposed a $300 million cash infusion to support community policing and employing more social workers alongside police officers.https://t.co/qqdkCQseNt

Pence again repeats the lie we have heard all week — that Biden wants to defund the police. Not true. Resorting to lies about your opponent’s views is a sign of desperation.
