The Insider reports:
The Republican Party in a statement said it will not be announcing a new platform of policies to voters at this year’s Republican National Convention, but will instead pledge to “enthusiastically” support President Donald Trump.
In a statement released on Sunday, the RNC announced that instead of pursuing a range of new policy goals should their candidate win in November’s presidential election, the party will instead “continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda.”
The absence of a platform is highly unusual. Parties usually use their election-year conventions to lay out a series of new policies and goals. Last week, the Democrats at their convention unveiled a 50-page platform. The GOP platform from 2016 runs to 66 pages.
The RNC announces there will be no GOP platform for the convention — just support for Trump’s second-term agenda, whatever that is https://t.co/P5RkqdsfDV

The GOP has ceded its party platform to a single person. And even worse, that person is Donald Trump. https://t.co/tJI2Pp2zRu

It’s hard to say which is more absurd and revealing. Not only does the GOP platform essentially say, “We stand for whatever Trump says we stand for at any given moment”; it also attacks the media in advance to discourage any questioning of the RNC’s unwavering devotion to him! pic.twitter.com/6SWT62z0L1

The RNC has admitted that the Republican Party is just a personality cult https://t.co/9aoxH9xlhq

The RNC has announced there will be NO GOP PLATFORM at the convention – just support for Trump’s 2nd term agenda (undefined). Like it’s done in dictatorships – leader decides all. Shame on weak sycophantic GOP Senators, and on constituents who can’t see light in the plain of day.

Does GOP support free trade? Don’t know, whatever Trump says.
Does GOP view Russia as an adversary? Don’t know, whatever Trump says.
Does GOP support defunding Social Security? Don’t know, whatever Trump says.@GOP is not a political party with principles anymore, it’s a cult. https://t.co/jeU4pdOKHB
