Mitch McConnell: Senate Won’t Pass “Postal-Only” Bill

The Louisville Courier-Journal reports:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday night that House legislation focusing on the U.S. Postal Service could be a chance to make some headway in the stalled negotiations over a coronavirus relief package.

However, he indicated the Senate is unlikely to pass a bill that addresses only the Postal Service. The Democrat-controlled House could pass such a bill this week. “I don’t think we’ll pass, in the Senate, a postal-only bill,” he told The Courier Journal.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to hold a vote Saturday on legislation that would block changes the Trump administration has been making to the Postal Service’s operations, citing concerns that the changes are slowing down mail delivery and will negatively affect the November election, when mail-in ballots will be widely used.
