Forbes reports:
One of the country’s hardest-hit states, Florida surpassed 500,000 coronavirus infections on Wednesday against a backdrop of dwindling federal aid that has turned local governments against each other.
Despite a recent dip in new infections, Florida reported an additional 5,409 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, while setting a new record for hospitalizations.
Last week, mayors from 163 Florida cities sent a letter to Congress pleading for more aid, describing the money already authorized under the Cares Act as insufficient considering how hard the state was hit by Covid-19.
Florida reported a record single-day increase in hospitalizations, adding 621 for a total of 7,622 across the state https://t.co/eGsujWO6Px
