A video of a man heard saying racist remarks against an Asian family at a Carmel Valley restaurant is sparking public outrage. The viral video posted on social media shows the diner cursing at the family and asking them to leave at the Bernardus Lodge and Spa’s Lucia restaurant.
Jordan Chan, who took the video, tells me this all happened as her family was celebrating her aunt’s birthday on 4th of July.
“We were singing happy birthday. We were just taking pictures and goofing around with each other and then all of a sudden the man, Michael Lofthouse, starts making really loud racist remarks at us,” Chan said.
The New York Post reports:
Michael Lofthouse, who is the CEO of IT company Solid8, launched the unprovoked attack on other diners. While gesturing at the family, Lofthouse could be heard saying, “Trump’s going to f–k you!”
“You f–kers need to leave,” he said to them as he stood up and put on his coat. The waitress then intervened telling the man, “You do not talk to a guest like that, you need to leave now.”
But Lofthouse continued with his verbal attack, saying, “You f–king Asian piece of s–t.” “Who are these f–kers?” he asked he waitress to which she replied, “They are valued guests.”
A fund has reportedly been launched to reward the server, who says she will donate the proceeds to the ACLU.
UPDATE: It turns out this guy has quite a history.
