Texas Gov’s Mask Order Goes Out Via Text Message

San Antonio’s NBC News affiliate reports:

Governor Greg Abbott’s two new executive orders about face coverings in public and gatherings of 10 people or more have begun. The new orders took affect at noon on Friday.

The first order requires all Texans to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19. San Antonio residents were notified of the governor’s orders by using the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA), which sent an alert to their smart phone.

The State of Texas now mandates all residents to wear masks, punishable by a fine of $250. Following a verbal or written warning for a first offense, a person’s second violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250. Each subsequent violation can be fined up to $250.
