Police Seize AR-15 Rifle At Home Of St. Louis Couple

St. Louis’s NBC News affiliate reports:

St. Louis police officers executed a search warrant Friday evening at the home of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the Central West end couple who confronted protesters with weapons in June. Police seized one of the weapons, the rifle, from the couple and they told police their attorney has the pistol seen in photos.

Late Friday evening 5 On Your Side confirmed attorney Al Watkins was no longer representing the McCloskeys, and that attorney Joel Schwartz had taken over. Schwartz confirmed a search warrant was issued at 8 p.m. Friday night, but would not say what was taken from the home. Schwartz also said he does not know where the handgun is.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports:

Public records and interviews reveal a fuller picture than emerged two weeks ago. They show the McCloskeys are almost always in conflict with others, typically over control of private property, what people can do on that property, and whose job it is to make sure they do it.

They filed a lawsuit in St. Louis circuit court to try to force the trustees to enforce the neighborhood rules as written.

One of the rules prohibited unmarried people from living together. Several neighbors said it was because the McCloskeys didn’t want gay couples living on the block. The trustees voted to impeach Patricia McCloskey as a trustee in 1992 when she fought an effort to change the trust indenture, accusing her of being anti-gay.

As you’ll see at the second link above, the couple has sued many people, including members of their own family, neighbors, employers, even a dog breeder. It’s a wild story.
