The Wall Street Journal reports:
The federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program designed to help small businesses weather fallout from the coronavirus pandemic helped a broad swath of organizations, including prominent restaurant chains, law firms and non-profits.
Among the recipients the Trump administration disclosed Monday: Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, the law firm headed by antitrust litigator David Boies; Newsmax Media Inc., the media company run by Trump donor Christopher Ruddy; and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro Inc., a restaurant operator with more than 200 U.S. locations.
A charitable-giving manager partially owned by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Renaissance Acquisition Company LLC, received a loan of between $2 million and $5 million. Ms. DeVos has disclosed a stake worth more than $1 million in the Indiana company. Representatives of the company and Ms. DeVos had no immediate comment.
