Florida shattered its daily record for new coronavirus cases Saturday with health officials reporting over 11,000 confirmed cases The rapidly escalating daily figures continue a trend that began when Florida started reopening its economy last month. The state now has confirmed 190,052 coronavirus cases since March 1 and 3,702 deaths.
Testing hit a high percent positive of new cases as well on Saturday, with health officials reporting 14.10% positivity rate. The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” coronavirus patients or those currently hospitalized. As of Saturday, 15,735 Floridians had been hospitalized for treatment at some point.
A total of 2,146,497 people have been tested in the state as of Saturday — about 9.9% of the state’s population — according to the Florida Department of Health.
